Sat Oct 8- NASA

We got to our room in Titusville fairly late on Friday night.  This was in the lobby.  What the heck is going on at the Extended Stay in Titusville?

The next day was all about the Kennedy Space Center.  We got there before it even opened and were some of the very first people admitted that day.

The rocket garden

This was the entrance to the Atlantis exhibit. I had read that it gets really busy with long lines later in the day, so we went there first.  We were the only people in the building for the first hour.

The actual Atlantis shuttle.  It's not just a model.

One of the exhibits allowed us to crawl and climb around the tunnels like we were in a real shuttle.

This was a very cool ride that simulates an actual shuttle launch.

Those we have lost (There were a lot. This is sample).

Pieces that were recovered from the wreckage of the Challenger and the Columbia.

On the bus to the vehicle assembly building.

The NASA portraits we got! We printed and framed the kid's pictures.  They were actually cheaper than school photos.

This makes zero sense.  We're on the moon, but you can see the moon in the background.  What?

After we left the Kennedy Space Center we drove back to Tampa.  We saw this burning car on the side of the road between Orlando and Tampa.  I took a picture and sent it to my brother before I realized that the rental we were driving was this exact car......make, model, color.  I had to clarify that we were not on fire.
