Fat and Sugar

We woke up last Sunday morning and we were sad.  Spencer said he didn't want to go home and he wanted to go to Disneyland.  We told him we couldn't go because we bought 3 day tickets and we had already gone for 3 days.  He paused, thought a moment, and replied, "well, let's just buy more tickets."  If only it were that easy, babe.  If only if were that easy.

The good news is that we had beautiful weather all 3 days at Disneyland and then Sunday was cold and very rainy.  Perfect day for a burger.  We headed over to Slater's 50/50.  We got there right after they opened, waited approximately 2 minutes and got a table.  The horror stories we heard about 2 hours waits didn't apply on Sunday morning.

We perused the menu and didn't see any particular burger we just had to have, so we used the order form and created our own.

This was mine.  The 1/3 pound 50/50 burger (50% ground beef, 50% ground bacon) on a white brioche bun with cheddar, baconaise (yes, read it again, I did say baconaise) and topped with dill pickle chips, grilled onions, roasted red peppers, tomatoes and sauteed mushrooms.
Then we waited.  Spencer was in no mood for pictures.
With either parent.
And then.......Then the burgers arrived.

Mine
Michael's
They were delicious.  Not delicious enough to wait 2 hours for, but definitely worth the 15 minute drive across Anaheim.  It was the perfect diversion from not being at Disneyland.

Spencer didn't want a burger at the burger place.  He got chicken strips of which he ate 0 bites.  He got his treat in the car.  His lollipop from Main Street.  The lollipop that did not include a picture of Daisy.

He kind of liked it.

6 hours later we were home.  12 hours after that we were off to school and work.  It was a boring and sad day.

Leaving Disney is always sad. I am currently "watching" the super bowl at James' while using his iPad. As I write John is talking about your menu. His favorite was the potato casserole. My devotion goes to your Cupcakes. They were the best cupcakes I have ever eaten....in my life.
