Elliott's Minion Party

Elliott's birthday party this year was the first one where we invited just his friends.  We had no family, I didn't invite any of my friends, and we made it optional for the parents of his school friends to stay.

He invited eight of his friends from Kindergarten and six of them were able to join us.  One was sick and one we never heard from.  Two parents stayed too.

I made sure to run around and get all of the decorations before kids arrived.

I had intended to do a banana for each kid, but it was pretty annoying and complicated to cut out all the pieces, so we just did two.

It was Elliott's idea to use his Minions umbrella.  We also gave each kid a marshmallow Minion (that we first used as a decoration) and a Minion goody bag.

They had this sign at the school's Halloween Monster Mash festival.  I jokingly asked if we could take it after, and they totally saved it for us and sent it home with Elliott.
The cake, that I baked on Thursday and decorated on Friday.
Malcolm's dad came in and took our family picture right before everyone else got there.  It saved us from a lot of hassle of using the timer.

Elliott requested Subway sandwiches, fruit and chips for his meal. Done.

I also had Minion capri suns and Minion ice cream cones.
The kids played inside when they arrived.  We let that go on for about forty minutes and then we made them eat. Two of his friends were late and got there after lunch, so it was a very manageable crowd for lunch.

After lunch we did presents.

And then we sang and blew out the candle.  All the kids wanted their picture with the cake.

I gave the kids teeny tiny pieces of cake because we also had ice cream cones.

After cake and ice cream we sent everyone outside to play.

The whole gang!

This was definitely the easiest party we've ever done for Elliott, simply because there were so few people.  He has always come up with the theme for the next year right around the time of his current year's party, but so far there is no plan for next year.  I'm going to gently push for The Grinch. He also asked if we could do themes until he goes to college.  Well, twist my arm Elliott. If that's what you want kid, that's what you'll get.
