The official 13 months picture
Weight/Size
At Elliott's 1 year well baby appointment a few days after his 1st birthday he weighed 25 pounds 4 ounces and was 29.5 inches tall.  He's about the same size as Spencer was when he was 18 months.  Yeah.  I just don't even know how little failure to thrive, liver diseased baby Elliott turned into such a big boy.

He is wearing 12 month, 12-18 month and 24 month clothes and a size 4 diaper.
Sleep
Elliott has been on a one nap a day schedule for about the last month.  He is actually taking better naps because he is more tired for them.  He is still in our room and for right now both Michael and I are still OK with it.  I think we will push a little bit sooner than we did for Spencer to go to his own room, but we are still not close to that day yet.   Elliott has been sleeping in the co-sleeper until today.  We moved the crib into our room when Michael got home from work.  Fingers are crossed it goes well.

Elliott is still trying to kill us every couple of weeks by waking up around midnightish/oneish/ twoish and then not going back to sleep for HOURS.  Like 4 hours usually.   He did it again on Monday night.  Any suggestions?

We have also had to become quite resourceful to keep this kid from peeing through his diapers at night.   Elliott LOVES to drink and can chug like no other 1 year old I have ever seen.  He will actually cry when he finishes drinking his cup of milk or water.  And he screeches and demands his own drink when he sees us drinking something.  We can keep up with his immense amount of pee during the day, but nights have been challenging.  And changing him pre-leakage to prevent leakage is not an option since that is just asking him to not go back to sleep until the sun starts coming up.  Through trial and error and a lot of middle of the night clothes and sheets changes, this is what we have found that works- a night time diaper with two (yes two) disposable diaper inserts (the washable inserts didn't work at all) and then a plastic diaper cover over all of that.  His butt is the size of full grown African elephant's.  We haven't had a pee-pee emergency for 9 nights in a row though.  And that is a record for the past 4 months.
Movement
Elliott crawls all over the house.  He pulls up on everything.  He can walk really well while holding on to a table or the couch.  He can walk a little bit if he pushes a walking type toy.  He hates holding our hands and walking.  He can just get there faster if he crawls, so he's not so into walking.  He is waving bye-bye occasionally and he just started clapping his hands together.  He's really bad at it and it is adorable when his hands don't connect.
Communication
This has been a really fun month for communication development.  Elliott says uh-o, Mom, Dad/Dada, No No, and Ginger.  He also says ahhhhh after he takes a drink or sees someone else take a drink.  Today he started clapping and saying yay at the same time.

He never calls me Mama.  Just Mom.  I think it's because that is what Spencer calls me.  He will even yell the same way Spencer does.  Mooooooooooooooom!

Every single morning Elliott wakes up and the first thing he says is uh-o......Mom.......Ginger?  Ginger refuses to sleep in our room anymore so I don't know why he thinks she should be there.

He has a word that we are pretty sure is Spencer, but it sounds a lot like Ginger so it is confusing.  When we dropped Spencer off at school today I swear Elliott said brother.
Sweet Remembrances
1.  Elliott's 2nd Christmas.
2. Elliott doing a great job with Monica and Brittany who watched him so we could go out for our 11th anniversary.
3. Elliott really starting to talk.
4.  Going out for BBQ on New Year's Eve.
5.  Elliott NOT getting sepsis and ending up in the PICU this year.
6.  Going to lots of parks over Spencer's winter break.
7. Playing on the new swing set in the backyard.
Food
I stopped writing down new food and doing 4 days in between new foods in November.  I can't actually think of anything he had that was brand new.  Maybe a tortilla chip at a dinner party we had.   Oh, and I did give him fresh strawberries. Elliott has become pretty picky with his food.  Spencer went through the same thing.  It's incredibly annoying.  Some days he loves meat.  Some days he hates it.  He has sworn off almost all vegetables, although sometimes he will eat like 1-2 bites.  I've just decided to take a "whatever" point of view.  I keep offering healthy choices, but I cannot force him to eat.  Eventually he'll get through this phase (I hope!) and we'll move on.

Elliott is still nursing before his nap and before bed.  Like 50% of the time he'll nurse early in the morning.
Mood
I think I will just get rid of this heading.  He's happy!  Always happy.
Teeth
Elliott has 6 teeth.  Two on the bottom and four on the top.  He seems to have stalled out on teething though because nothing seems to be cutting through at the moment.
Likes: crawling quickly, Ginger, drinking liquids, grilled cheese sandwiches, saying uh-o 5 million times a day, bath time, swinging.

Dislikes: most vegetables, meat (only every other day), finishing a cup of liquid and not having any more.

Awww, what a cute little chunky monkey! Congratulations, Momma, on making it through the first difficult year! It's smooth sailing from here...terrible two's will be a breeze! ;-) I actually think he is looking more like Spencer these days, don't you?
