Catching up: My birthday

I turned 42 on Sunday, September 5th.  I got up early and walked Kevin for three miles.  Then it was back to home for Asian pastries and coffee.

Kevin was tired from the walk.

Time for presents

I specifically asked for the Baby Yoda squishmallow.

This is a runner rug for the hallway.

Shoes I bought myself in California.

This is a wrap-around dress.

Official birthday pictures.

A frosty treat for lunch.
My car gave me a gift.  It went from 199,999 miles to 200,000.

The driver was not the photographer, BTW.

Carne Asada fries for dinner.

And chocolate cake for dessert.

And that is 42!

Catching up: California to Birthdays

On Friday, August 27th I left the state of Arizona for the first time in almost three years.  I drove to Palm Springs to stay with my friend Megan for the weekend.

I really don't have a lot of pictures from the weekend because we didn't do much.  We had planned on a lot of talking, shopping, and eating.  That's exactly what we did, but not much of it was picture-worthy.

We went to look at some model homes and some houses for sale on Saturday the 28th.  We thought this was kinda elaborate for a front yard fountain.  And then we saw the hawk!

Real!
We went out for a fancy dinner with Megan's friend Alicia on Saturday night.  We got all dressed up and then the restaurant had minimal air conditioning and we almost fainted.
Sunday, August 29th

I bought Kevin this extremely overpriced dog toy.

Sunset driving back home that day.

Kevin enjoying my return home on Monday the 30th.

I noticed him rustling around in the corner that day.  He had hidden a treat under the fabric that covers the heavy weights.  He was retrieving it for a snack.

I saw my radiation oncologist on Tuesday the 31st.  She was happy with everything and I go back in six months.

I wore the green bejeweled mask I bought in Palm Springs.  Everyone loved it.

Cuddlers that day.

We've had some issues with mosquitos after the very wet summer we had.
I put fresh sheets on the bed on Thursday, September 2nd. I thought they looked lovely with the flowers.
I made a run to Costco during the day and was lured into buying a front door wreath.  Kevin was totally into the box.

It looks excellent!!!

Tired after all that box wrestling.
On Saturday, September 4th we went to the first movie in a theater in way over a year.  I insisted on wearing N95 masks the whole time.  We also went to, like, an 11:00 showing and the theater was empty.

We went to Free Guy.  It was hilarious.

Up next: The double birthday weekend.

Catching up: Almost the rest of August

This post will take us from Sunday, August 15th to Thursday, August 26th.

Let's just do it!

A cool, glittery pink Tesla I saw on the 15th.

Michael and I celebrated the 20th anniversary of our engagement with mimosas and movies in bed.  With Kevin, of course.

Elliott wanted to eat this cookie he got from a birthday party.  He did it on Monday the 16th.  But first he wanted his picture with it.

His official 9 year 8 month picture.

I did a little sunflower thing in my dining room office.
The 16th was the two year anniversary of when I finished active cancer treatment. I wore a pink dress for the occasion.

August 16
2019 vs 2020 vs 2021
We had a HUGE storm the night of the 16th.  Winds were gusting at 90 mph!  I documented some of the damage the morning of the 17th.  Trees were snapped and uprooted all over!

Including our own back yard!!!!  My poor tree!

Kevin on Wednesday the 18th.

More tree damage that day.

Thursday the 19th.

Sunrise on Friday the 20th.

Kevin that day.
At my DEXA (bone density) scan that day.  You can't have any metal on for it and I did a good job remembering that.

Cuddles that night.

Sunday the 21st.

Our poor tree roots on Sunday the 22nd.

Elliott on Monday the 23rd.
We hired an aborist to save our tree.  He came with his crew on Tuesday the 24th.

This is before.
This is after.
They cut about half of it off. The tree will always lean, but hopefully it won't die.

We covered the roots with a bunch of dirt and rock, and then I put potted plants on top.
Thursday the 26th was National Dog Day.

Kevin!

And our family picture to celebrate the day!

OK, up next: The last few days of August, birthdays, and then we power through September.
