A Whole Lotta Firsts

Spencer started swim lessons last week.  It is his FIRST time in the "Duck" class.

Since last summer he has developed an awareness that he could drown in the pool.  He's actually showing fear in the water that he never showed before.  I don't know if that is good or bad.

Elliott started wearing size two diapers for the FIRST time last week.

Spencer and I made cloud dough for the FIRST time. 8 cups flour + 1 cup baby oil.  It holds together like wet sand.  He played with it for an entire day and hasn't touched it since.

Michael's Aunt Sandi gave this outfit to Spencer when he was born.  By the time it fit him it was too cold to wear it.  This outfit got its FIRST use with Elliott.

I did not remember that Aunt Sandi had given this to us.  I had to check the gift list word document.

It has finally paid off for me to obsessively write down every gift Spencer (and now Elliott) has ever been given.

I made coconut milk for the FIRST time.

It was very easy.  You add 2 cups of organic, dried, shredded, unsweetened coconut to 4 cups water.  Let it sit for 2 hours then blend it in the blender.  Line a strainer with cheesecloth or paper towels and let drain in the refrigerator overnight.

We're mixing this in to Elliott's oatmeal.  Coconut is full of MCT oil.  It is very healthy for you.

We let Elliott be social for the FIRST time.  He went to his FIRST fondue/swimming party at Maryellen's house on Sunday.  Those are my fondue pots.  Yes, I somehow have two.
I brought bread on a pig platter and apples in a pig bowl.  If only I could find a pig serving spoon.
Elliott spent some time with a same age peer for the FIRST time.
Elliott is 12 weeks older, to the day, than Trenton, but I'm pretty sure Trenton weighs more.
We finally got Elliott's fingers out of his mouth.
Then he discovered the textured pillow.
Then he showed us how old his big brother is.
Then Trenton discovered the textured pillow.
Then Amy and I removed them from the distracting pillows.
Elliott wore his bathing suit for the FIRST time.
And went wading in the pool for the FIRST time.

And went swimming in the pool for the FIRST time.

 So did Trenton.

Elliott hung with the boys (I cannot verify that this was the first time).

And, you knew this was coming.....
Double fisted it for the FIRST time.

It was a very fun day.  But the firsts are not done yet.

Elliott sat by himself, unassisted, for the FIRST time today.

He lasted about 30 seconds each time.
He kind of has ape arms going on here, and I would not go as far as to say he is an independent sitter, but it's a start.
We just need to work on his posture a wee bit.

This is such a cute post!!!!!!! I love that Spencer is taking swim lessons. Does he seem to enjoy the pool even if he has a slight fear of it? Your comment about Elliott having ape arms made me laugh. Seriously, Oliver does the same thing. This post really was so clever.

Spencer still loves the pool. He has taken lessons since he was 1, so this is his 4th summer of lessons, but it is the first class where his teacher is really challenging him to swim a distance. He is very, very uncomfortable being so far away from the wall and without a parent. He doesn't fully trust that she will always be there to catch him. He had no fear at the party though or any other time we have just gone in the pool this summer.

Is Trenton related to Baby Jacob? Brothers? Or am I mixing up your friends and their families?
