Pies, movies, heart attacks and wrestling

What? What kind of random title is that? Well, stick around and find out.

A little background first. Michael's dad, Raymond, turned 60 in October. We gave him a "coupon" for Michael to take him to eat at The Heart Attack Grill and then I would make him whatever he wanted for dessert. Michael's parents came up on Saturday and Raymond cashed in on his gifts.

First, Michael and I went out for Thai food while Spencer spent some quality time with Grandma and Papa. Then we went home for dessert.

Raymond requested lemon meringue pie, so I made that.......

and a pecan butterscotch pie for good measure. His birthday was 5 months ago afterall. Then, we put Spencer to bed and Michael and I........WENT TO THE MOVIES. It is the first time ever we have left and done something after Spencer went to sleep. I must say, it was marvelous. We saw the 9:45 showing of Shutter Island. Great movie. You should really go see it. We didn't get home until 12:30. It's like we're in college again.

Then on Sunday, Michael and his dad went to The Heart Attack Grill for lunch. Do you know about this place? This is their menu. Not kidding, this is it. This is all they have to eat.

They both got the quadruple bypass. That's 2 pounds of meat and close to 8,000 calories you're looking at. The patties are smeared with lard before being put on the grill to cook.
When you eat there, you get to wear a hospital gown.
Michael did it. He ate the whole thing. Plus one serving of fries cooked in lard. A few more meals like this and Michael could weigh 350 pounds and would be allowed to eat there FOR FREE!
A "nurse" wheeled him out to the car after their meal.
After their "meal"/deathwish, Michael and his dad headed off to, dum dum dum............ Wrestlemania! I can't say I exactly approve, but they both seem to enjoy it.
There were 72,000+ people there. I don't get it.
Whatever
While Michael and his dad were watching the "wrestling", Spencer and Grandma and I went to Mimi's Cafe. I had grilled chicken and asparagus with a lemon mushroom sauce. Hopefully it was far, far, far, far, far less than 8,000 calories.

I was amused and grossed out by the Heart Attack Grill excursion. Who would be able to eat such a big burger?

Also, you liked Shutter Island? I did not...at all. John didn't either but we're beginning to see that we're the exception because most people we know liked it.

So... seriously? That place is real? Wow.

That plus wrestlemania... I'm seeing Michael in a whole new light.

That is a real place? Really? REALLY? It sounds like a place The Onion would write about. I don't get professional wrestling either. Must be a guy thing.

OK - so I think I may have gained two pounds just by looking at the menu!

I am an All American girl who loves a good burger - but just thinking about all that meat makes me a little queasy.

And Wreslemania . . . .totally a guy thing.

We just saw a thing about the Heart Attack Grill on the Food Channel I think. Bernie wants to go. I will have to show him this.
