The day I got my Master of Arts in Speech Language Pathology.
It wasn't until June 2005 that I finished my clinical fellowship, got my certificate of clinical competence and became a certified SLP, but graduation day was definitely a huge milestone in the process of becoming legit. I don't know that I could ever go through graduate school again. Well, that's not true. I could definitely get a master's degree in something that required, like, 30 credits. Mine was 87 credits. That doesn't even count the over 700 hours of supervised clinical work that was part of it. It makes me tired just thinking about it.
Isn't it cute that I kept the ceremony tickets?
After going to school in Greeley for a year and a half, Michael and I moved back to Tempe in December 2003 where I did 8 months of internships in Chandler, Tempe and Mesa. Michael, my parents and I drove back to Greeley for the graduation ceremony. It's a 15 hour drive if you stop very few times for potty breaks and eating. On the way back home we spent the night in Colorado Springs to visit my cousin at the Air Force Academy. We made it back to Tempe on Sunday afternoon. On Monday morning I started work at my first job as an SLP. Talk about stressful.
