An all American Fourth

Sunday the 3rd was our only full day up on the mountain because we had decided that we wanted leave the cabin on the morning of the 4th of July and head back to Tucson.  The kids wanted to see fireworks and there are no fireworks up in the mountains.

We had breakfast out on the deck.  The temperature was in the 60's and it was lovely.

Then we drove up to ski valley so we could take the ski lift to the top.

Michael went with Elliott, Spencer rode with me and my mom was solo on the way up.  My dad took Ginger to the ski vallley restaurant while we were gone.  He had a beer and she had a bowl of water.

Ski lifts always have bears, don't they?

We were sad about the dead tree behind us.

View of Tucson from the tippy top.

We got an even closer look on the way down.

I went solo on the way back.

On Sunday afternoon we took some naps, played some games,

and had wine out on the deck.

After dinner we made s'mores.

On the actual 4th of July we packed up and took some pictures of the cabin before we drove back to Tucson.

Looking back at the cabin as we drove out.

Once we were back at my parent's house in Tucson Ginger was exhausted and had to start sleeping for three days straight.

We had to take our annual 4th of July picture.  My dad was nice enough to provide us with a wall size flag.

Ginger had some patriotism forced on her.
We watched the shows from Boston and New York on TV.  Elliott took this picture.  He was very proud of it.
That night we watched the fireworks from the roof top at Michael's parents house.  But by then I was pretty much done and took no pictures.

It was an exhausting trip to the mountains, but very fun and definitely something we'll do again.
