A slower week

Last week was so slow that I didn't even take a single picture on Tuesday.  Monday was the splash pad and bike riding that I already posted about, so we'll start our memory journey on Wednesday.

We started the day at physical therapy.  Ms. Emily was out sick so Elliott worked with the "real" PT, Ms. Laura.  He is doing really well and I'm seeing actual progress at home.

She was doing some stretching exercises with him to get him to lift his toes up more.

I had a doctor's appointment that afternoon where I got cut up and stitched back together by my plastic surgeon. I  really didn't want to go home in between PT and my appointment so first we made a trip to Target.  There was a sad looking young man sitting outside with a sign that said he was homeless and had no family.  Elliott and I bought him some bananas, granola bars, peanuts and vitamin water and gave him that and a little cash as we left.  He started crying when I gave him the bag.  Then I felt equal parts bad and good about it for the rest of the day.

After Target we went to the mall and walked around for a bit and then I took Elliott to Mimi's Cafe for lunch.

Nothing memorable happened on Thursday, but on Friday the resource teacher (Angela) at my school and I wore the same shirt to work.  We had actually joked about it two weeks ago because we were supposed to have four meetings together on Friday.  We were kidding when we said that it would show we were a real team.  Then we never talked about it again so we laughed, heartily, when we saw each other that morning.  Unfortunately three of the four meetings were cancelled so we were only able to show our team unity in one meeting.
A big storm rolled in on Friday afternoon and I got to enjoy sitting in my office listening to it rain.  The news said that it had rained in Phoenix on that date (May 15th) only three other times in recorded history.

Michael took the kids to Tucson for the weekend when Spencer was done with school on Friday to give me the opportunity to tackle a big project: staining the kitchen island.  I'm going to do an entire post about this eventually, so I won't go into too much detail, but this was after the first coat on Friday.  Ginger should have gone to Tucson too.  She kept stepping on the drop cloth and rubbing her butt against the corners.

I had the doors and windows open while I worked because it was so lovely outside and at about 8:00 pm I had to close them because it was too cold.  In Arizona!  In May!
On Saturday morning I gave myself a facial with a baking soda, honey and cinnamon mask.  Pinterest told me to do it.  And who am I to argue with pinterest?  It smelled so good I was tempted to eat some of it.
While I was doing that I realized it was the 16th so I called Michael and laughed and told him he was fully responsible for getting Elliott's 3 years 5 month picture.

Monica picked me up at 12:30 and we went to lunch.  Our salads were just so beautiful we did a photo shoot with them.  And we sat outside on the patio.  In Arizona!  In May!

After lunch we went shopping at this new home decorating store called At Home.  I had no clue it existed.  Have you heard of it?  You should go.  It's like a Costco sized Kirkland's.

There were 1,812 things I wanted to buy but the only thing I did buy was this little painting to go in the bathroom.

It reminded me of this painting that we already have in the bathroom.
After we were done shopping Monica dropped me off and I did the second coat of stain while she went to pick up her husband.  Then I played the role of the third wheel and we all went out to dinner.  Where we sat outside.  In Arizona!  In May!

We both look like we have scoliosis in this picture.  I don't know what we were doing.

And then we saw this pig on our way back to the car.

Sunday was also not memorable, except for when I went to Target and ran into Maryellen there.  But I don't employ a full time photographer, so I have no proof it really happened.

You are such a good soul. So glad to hear that you're noticing progress in Elliott since beginning PT.

I'm so overwhelmingly behind on post commenting that the daunting task of catching up has stopped me from commenting at all, so I've decided to just pick up with commenting here. I've been reading all along, but you know how it goes sometimes. ANYWAY, SOOOOOO glad that you're starting to really see some improvements with Elliott already. Give yourself a huge pat on the back, Mama.
Not going to lie, when I scrolled down and saw your facial pic before reading, I was ever so slightly concerned that you were using cabinet stain as a facial. How did it turn out? The facial, that is.
Michael gets a big thumbs up for his official month picture taking skills. Perhaps we haven't used up all of their genuine smiles, just all the ones they have to offer for their mothers...

Wow, what a great week...in Arizona in May! Hehe! So glad you got to experience some rain and cooler temperatures. I would even appreciate a little of that here since it did actually get pretty hot and dry here the last couple of weeks. What a wonderful gesture you and Elliott did for the man at Target. I always want to help these homeless people and never seem to know what to do. I never seem to carry cash with me when I need it. Sigh. I think what you did was perfect. Looks like Elliott doesn't turn down his pancakes at Mimi's. I love the progress on the kitchen island, but I laughed when I read Jeannette's comment about your facial looking like the stain. Haha! And oh look, Michael can use the camera. Haha! He did good! Costco sized Kirkland's...I'm in! Eddie would hate it! ;-)
