Mother's Day 2014

I have been reading all of these beautiful and touching blog posts about mothering and motherhood in the last 3-4 days.  If you have come here looking for such a post, keep looking.  I have no poignant words to share.  I do, however, have a recap of the weekend complete with a lot of pictures of me eating food.  So stick around if that is up your alley at all.

On Saturday night John and Maryellen came over after we put the kids to bed.  They sat on our couch and watched our TV while "watching" the kids so that we could go to the movies.  This was all a swap because we watched their dog when they went out of town.

We saw The Other Woman.  It was funny.

Spencer took this picture.  He said we should smile more.
Michael and I were both taking the day off from Whole 30 on Sunday.  We decided we wanted to consume approximately 74,000 calories within a 16 hour time frame.  It was a good choice.

We got Chompies to go for breakfast.  So much better than fighting the crowds and leaving a tip.

This was Spencer's breakfast.
I got stuffed french toast.  I did not know that the entire thing was going to be battered and deep fried.  It was pure insanity.  I couldn't even begin to eat all of it.  I cut off all the edges and didn't eat anything that didn't have filling attached to it.

After breakfast it was time for presents.  Elliott wanted nothing to do with this, so he played by himself in his room.

This is from my parents.  I'm wearing it to work on Thursday, just in case you want to track me down and see me in it live.

Spencer colored this pig for me.  I'm thinking about having it framed.

I have been getting silicone poaching cups for Mother's Day for the last 3 years.  After last year I had 6 of them.  Then Monica and Rick came over for breakfast last week and we had to poach eggs in batches because we didn't have enough cups. So this year I got 4 more and now we can poach 10 eggs all at the same time.  Maybe next year I can get 2 more and at that point, when I can poach a dozen eggs at the same time, my collection will be complete.  They also threw in a chocolate bar at the last minute, although I didn't eat it yesterday.
I also got 10 pound weights.  I'm not quite ready to be done with my 8 pound weights, but I'm planning for the future.

Elliott finally joined us and we got some nice mother with her babies pictures.

We did some tinkering around in the mid part of the day and then Elliott took a nap.  After his nap I did one of my favorite things.  I banned everyone from our room and read in the big chair.  It was lovely.
After that we went to Lowe's and Target to buy new stuff for the master bathroom, which is slowly being worked on.

We picked up a pizza on the way home.

Spencer took this picture too.  After he took it he told me that I should put it on facebook and say, "I'm enjoying my Mother's Day very much."  I was so proud of his witty caption.

At some point during the day I realized that I had taken a pregnancy test on Mother's Day 3 years prior and found out about the embryo that grew into Elliott.  I thought we should take some touching mother/son pictures in honor of the progress we have made in 3 years.

This looks just darling doesn't it?  The truth is that he was arching his back and screeching because he wanted down.

And this?  He's yelling and trying to wiggle out of my arms.

After our fake sentimental pictures we went to Dairy Queen for some ice cream.
Spencer had a hard time using the camera on the phone so you can't see our ice cream.  Michael got a hot fudge sundae and I got a strawberry sundae.
I was 5.8 pounds heavier on Monday morning compared to Sunday morning.  But by 5:00 pm I was only up 1.4 pounds and I'm almost always 2-3 pounds heavier at the end of the day compared to the morning, so I'm hopeful that by Tuesday morning I will have lost all the bloat.  It helps that we started the Gamma Cycle of T-25 on Sunday and it is actually killing us.

Holy crap, that french toast is insane! Also, I like that Spencer had a doughnut as an appetizer to his face-cakes. ;)
His piggy drawing is absolutely frameworthy and I love the "endearing" pictures with Elliott. I swear some of the best pictures I have of the kids are actually not what they appear at all.
I'm glad you had a totally delicious Mother's Day in every way possible. :)

Yep, pictures of you eating great looking food and your witty sense of humor are right up my alley! Sounds like a great Mother's Day! Looks like we both appreciate some Blue Moon too! ;-) And holy cow to that french toast! I gained 5 lbs. just looking at it! Haha!

I don't think I've ever had poached eggs. Please put that on the agenda for 2016. Also, what is this Gamma T-25, I forget what it was called stuff?
