Pool Party

Back in March, Laura and Josh offered to host a pool party in June for us, Karen and her family and Chelsea and her family.  We all met up in the pool last weekend when we were in Tucson.

Michael was holding Spencer when Zac (who has no fear) suddenly hurled himself off the step into Michael's arms.  Michael became a father of two.
Then Josh swam over with Sara and it was a whole "my 2 dads" thing.
Zac, Lilly and Chelsea

After the 4th time in the pool (with breaks for snacks and warming up) the moms made a unanimous decision that the pool was done but the kids could play with the water table.
Josh made the most delicious BBQ chicken and ribs for dinner.  Laura made the most delicious sides.  Every night before bed Spencer shares his 2 favorite parts of the day.  On this particular day he said his favorite parts were going to the party and eating the ribs.  He has never included a food on his favorite list before.  The ribs were that good.
I was in charge of desserts.  I made mini apple tarts,
flourless peanut butter cookies,
and oreo truffles.

Karen brought ingredients for margaritas.  After the girls discovered that the boys (ie our husbands) had been doing shots of tequila we decided that a batch of margaritas should be made quickly before the boys drank all the good stuff.  This is what was brought outside for us.  My friends are so classy.  And I drink out of a paper bag.
I should explain, in my defense, that I was the designated driver of our family, and the bottle in the bag was actually sparking apple cider.

Thanks for a fun time, Laura and Josh.  I think we're hosting in October.  I'm picturing a roaring fire, pork loin, roasted root vegetables, hot buttered rum, sweaters and fall foliage.  Of course we'll all have to fly to Colorado because our homes will still be using AC, but that could be fun.

Here we come, Breckenridge.
